Intertops is best known as the oldest sports book on the Internet. It accepted the first sports wager in online history on January 17, 1996. Before this, all action was taken over the phone by offshore sports books. Intertops has a long history in the online poker world. It started out on the Party Poker Network. Party Poker kicked off all skins in 2005. Intertops decided to no longer offer poker and simply became an affiliate for Party Poker. It later joined the Microgaming Poker Network. In 2008, Microgaming blocked all U.S. players. Intertops decided to leave the network and move to the Cake Network where it is today so that it could continue to allow American players. The network is now known as Horizon Poker Network. Intertops did not accept new U.S. players for nearly four years after Black Friday. In February 2015, it reversed course. Intertops now accepts new U.S. players from 43 states. The excluded states are Louisiana, Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Missouri, and Washington.
